As the 2024 college football season reaches Week 6, the Georgia Bulldogs are raising some concerns, according to ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum. During his “Paul Finebaum Show,” the SEC Network commentator pointed out that Georgia, the preseason favorite for the national championship, has been facing challenges, particularly with their slow starts in games and defensive lapses.
“Georgia has some problems,” Finebaum stated. “I don’t know how to explain it. They have the exact same problem they had last year. They can’t start games. Their defense has spots. So, ultimately, Kirby Smart has plenty to correct.”
Georgia is coming off a tough 41-34 loss to Alabama, marking their first regular-season defeat since 2020. The Bulldogs fell behind 28-0 early but managed an impressive comeback, briefly taking a 34-33 lead late in the fourth quarter. However, Alabama regained control with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Milroe to Ryan Williams, sealing the victory. Finebaum’s comments echo concerns from 2023, when Georgia’s only loss came in the SEC Championship Game against Alabama, a game in which they also had a slow start.
Georgia’s head coach Kirby Smart now faces the task of addressing these recurring issues as the Bulldogs look to bounce back from their recent defeat.
