BREAKING: Raiders Swaps Davante Adams for Star WR With Unique Skillset

It seems likely that the Las Vegas Raiders will trade Davante Adams. The star wide receiver has requested a trade, and the team appears open to making it happen.

However, the Raiders are not in a hurry to make a deal unless they get a good offer. While there’s talk of the team seeking a second-round pick, they might prefer getting a player in return if they still aim to compete this season.

One possibility involves the San Francisco 49ers, who have two high-priced wide receivers. Brandon Aiyuk seems like a logical trade target for Las Vegas due to his connection with head coach Antonio Pierce. Still, Sports Illustrated’s Grant Cohn proposed a different idea: swapping Adams for Deebo Samuel.

Cohn explained, “It will be extremely hard for the 49ers to afford both Samuel and Aiyuk long-term. There’s even been speculation that Samuel could be traded next year. So why not trade him now for Adams, a better receiver? They could keep Adams for two more seasons or release him next year since he has no guaranteed money left on his contract after 2024.”

Does This Trade Make Sense for Raiders?

From the 49ers’ standpoint, this trade would be a smart move. While Deebo Samuel is undoubtedly talented, his frequent injuries and limited route-running skills reduce his overall potential. What made Samuel an All-Pro was his ability to contribute in the running game, but with only 27 rushing yards this season, that part of his game has been underwhelming.

Samuel’s talent could help soften the blow of losing Adams for the Raiders, but the 49ers would likely need to include more in the deal. Samuel’s contract, while not ideal, expires after the 2025 season, so it wouldn’t be a long-term burden. A trade package of Samuel and a fourth-round pick might be enough to get the Raiders interested.

Latest Update on Davante Adams Trade Rumors

Raiders owner Mark Davis usually stays out of personnel decisions, but when a key player like Davante Adams requests a trade, it’s difficult not to get involved. Adams is not only one of the NFL’s top stars but also a major part of the Raiders’ marketing efforts.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Davis won’t approve a trade unless the return is substantial.

“The Raiders have informed interested teams that Mark Davis will not accept anything less than a second-round draft pick for Adams, along with additional compensation in the form of another draft pick or a player,” Schefter wrote in an October 5 report.

The New York Jets and New Orleans Saints are currently the leading contenders to land Adams, but several other teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens, are keeping an eye on the situation.

With a month left until the trade deadline, the Raiders have time to hold out for the right offer.
