REPORT: Padres Reliever Breaks Silence After NLDS Loss

Ten days after the San Diego Padres’ 2024 season ended in a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series, Padres reliever Jeremiah Estrada has shared his thoughts.

Estrada pitched in four games during the Padres’ 2024 postseason run, including one appearance in the NL Wild Card round against the Atlanta Braves and three against the Dodgers in the NLDS. Across 4.1 innings, he gave up five hits, one unearned run, and one walk, while striking out five. However, he did not pitch in Game 5, the final game of the NLDS.

Despite the Padres’ failure to reach the National League Championship Series, Estrada expressed his gratitude for his journey this season.

“To my first full season in the Big Leagues: Thank you. For a year of growth, Healthiness, challenges, dreams come true, Accomplishments, Brotherhood, and unforgettable memories! I Love you San Diego. See you soon 2025,” Estrada posted on X.

Estrada joined the Padres in November 2023 after being claimed off waivers, signing a one-year, $740,000 contract. Before this, he started his career with the Chicago Cubs, who drafted him in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

He made his MLB debut with the Cubs late in the 2022 season but only appeared in 17 games across two seasons. After spending time between the majors and minors, the Cubs removed him from their 40-man roster after the 2023 season.

In his first season with the Padres, Estrada played in a career-high 62 games, finishing with a 6-3 record, a 2.95 ERA, and 94 strikeouts. During a breakout year, he set an MLB expansion-era record with 13 consecutive strikeouts in May and posted some of his best numbers in September with a 0.84 ERA and a perfect 0.00 ERA during the postseason.
