One of the most promising aspects of Auburn’s football program is the 2025 recruiting class, highlighted by quarterback commit Deuce Knight. A Mississippi native, Knight had been committed to Notre Dame since September 2023, but after a year of visits to Auburn, he switched his commitment on October 2.
Following recent updates to recruiting databases, Knight has been elevated to 5-star status in the On3 Industry Ranking, which combines data from the four major recruiting services. He is now ranked as the #32 overall prospect and the #6 quarterback in the 2025 class.
Freshman Malik Blocton shares the mindset of the younger players
While Auburn football’s future looks bright, the present is proving to be a challenge. The Tigers are currently on a four-game losing streak and have yet to secure a conference win this season, which is particularly disappointing given that improvement was anticipated in head coach Hugh Freeze’s second year.
Despite the setbacks, Auburn’s younger players remain committed to the program’s vision. True freshman defensive lineman Malik Blocton emphasized that they all understood the rebuilding process when they joined the team.
“None of us are soft-hearted,” Blocton told Auburn Undercover. “We knew what we were getting into. We knew it might take a couple of years. We were hoping it wouldn’t, hoping we’d be the class to change it. But it’s going to take more than just us. We just have to weather the storm.
“But the storm won’t last long, I can tell you that. It’s not going to last for long.”
