The Buffalo Bills have been one of the NFL’s top teams in recent years, but the Kansas City Chiefs continue to block their path to a Super Bowl.
While Buffalo can’t change its past playoff shortcomings against Kansas City, the team has an opportunity in Week 11 to end the Chiefs’ perfect 2024 record and move within a game of securing home-field advantage in the postseason with a win at home.
The Bills’ recent acquisition of 2023 Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns ahead of the trade deadline was a move made with these goals in mind.
However, Cooper has been dealing with a wrist injury that kept him out of Buffalo’s last two games. On Thursday, Nov. 14, he provided a positive update on his status for this weekend’s matchup with the two-time defending Super Bowl champions.
When asked if he felt like he was trending toward playing on Sunday, Cooper responded, “Yeah, I do,” as reported by ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg.
Buffalo, currently sitting at 8-2, is a 2.5-point favorite at home against the 9-0 Chiefs. Despite Kansas City’s undefeated record, their narrow point differentials in several games suggest they could be due for a loss soon.
A fully healthy Cooper could boost the Bills’ chances. While his production this season—29 catches for 319 yards and three touchdowns in eight games—has been underwhelming, only two of those games were with quarterback Josh Allen.
Cooper, now 30, struggled with injuries in Buffalo and played inconsistently with Deshaun Watson in Cleveland earlier this year. However, he previously led the Browns in receiving with 150 catches for 2,410 yards and 14 touchdowns over the last two seasons. The five-time Pro Bowler remains a key weapon in his 10th NFL season.
