This is the kind of news Tennessee fans love to hear. Head coach Josh Heupel and his staff are relentless when it comes to keeping top talent in-state, and they’ve proven it again. Earlier in this recruiting cycle, there were concerns that running back Daune Morris might choose to go elsewhere.
Initially committed to USC, Morris saw the Volunteers ramp up their recruiting efforts in recent weeks. Heupel played a key role, bringing Morris back to Knoxville for an official visit that left a strong impression. So much so, it made Morris realize there’s no place like home. On3’s Hayes Fawcett has now confirmed that the speedy back has flipped his commitment from the Trojans to Tennessee.

Tennessee has officially flipped USC RB commit Daune Morris
With the Early Signing Period approaching on Dec. 4, this is a major win for the Vols as they work to solidify their 2025 recruiting class. Analysts had recently predicted Daune Morris would flip, and now it’s official.
A key moment in sealing Morris’ commitment was his visit to Knoxville for senior day, where he witnessed Tennessee dominate UTEP 56-0. That experience likely played a significant role in convincing him to join the program. A dynamic and explosive running back, Morris is poised to make an immediate impact on Tennessee’s offense once he arrives on campus.
The 5’10”, 185-pound standout received offers from several top programs, including Tennessee, USC, Florida, Kentucky, Colorado, Auburn, Ole Miss, and South Carolina. While the opportunity to play for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans initially drew his interest, Josh Heupel and his staff never wavered in their pursuit. They made Morris a top priority, and their persistence has paid off. Soon, Morris will officially sign with Tennessee, setting the stage for what could be an exciting career with an SEC powerhouse.
