JUST IN: Jacob Trouba Brutal On-Ice Fight, kaapo Kakko Two Word Message And Drury Shock Decision

The New York Rangers entered Saturday’s matchup against the Montreal Canadiens eager to snap a five-game losing streak, and captain Jacob Trouba wasted no time igniting the intensity. Just two minutes into the game, Trouba squared off with Montreal’s Josh Anderson in a heated fight that reflected both the team’s mounting frustrations and the pressure surrounding Trouba personally.

The Rangers captain has been the focus of trade rumors, with reports suggesting GM Chris Drury is considering significant roster changes involving Trouba and fellow veteran Chris Kreider. Anderson, motivated by a previous Trouba hit on Justin Barron in their last meeting, launched an aggressive assault in the fight, landing multiple punches and leaving Trouba visibly shaken.

Anderson controlled the battle and sent a strong message to the Rangers captain in retaliation for his previous behavior, while Trouba was able to remain upright.

Although Jacob Trouba came up short in his fight against Josh Anderson, the Rangers used the moment as a spark to reignite their energy. “There was a lot of energy after that,” said Chris Kreider. “That’s our leader stepping up and doing whatever it takes.” Kaapo Kakko echoed the sentiment, adding, “That’s something to get the guys going.”

The game remained physical, with multiple scuffles breaking out throughout. Despite surrendering a two-goal lead in the third period, Kakko—who has also been the subject of trade rumors—secured the game-winning power-play goal with just 24 seconds left. The much-needed 3-2 victory improved the Rangers’ record to 13-9-1, giving them 27 points through 23 games.
