GOOD NEWS: Vikings Confirms Return Of Another Elite Star Bolstering Squad Depth

The Minnesota Vikings released their first injury report for Week 16 on Wednesday afternoon. Since the team only held a walkthrough, the report was more of a simulation. As expected for this point in the season, the list included several veteran players, which is typical for an early-week update.

Early Week 16 Minnesota Vikings injury report

Brian O’Neill (knee), who briefly left Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears before returning, was listed as limited in practice, along with Harrison Phillips (knee), Harrison Smith (foot), Patrick Jones II (knee), and David Quessenberry (oblique). Both Stephon Gilmore and Josh Oliver were marked as full participants, indicating that Minnesota’s top cornerback is expected to return to action on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Full Participants Limited Did Not Practice
Stephon Gilmore (Hamstring) Patrick Jones II (Knee) Fabian Moreau (Hip)
Josh Oliver (Wrist) Brian O’Neill (Knee) Jalen Redmond (Concussion)
Harrison Phillips (Knee)
David Quessenberry (Oblique)
Harrison Smith (Foot)

Two players were listed as DNPs (Did Not Practice): 30-year-old cornerback Fabian Moreau, who has been stepping in for Stephon Gilmore, and Jalen Redmond, who entered concussion protocol after being pulled late in Sunday’s game against the Bears.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell shared on Tuesday that Brian O’Neill and Patrick Jones II are expected to play on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. However, it’s no surprise to see their names included in Wednesday’s injury report.

Dallas Turner - Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings

Early-week injury reports often feature several players dealing with minor issues, many of whom will likely practice fully by Thursday or Friday. Nonetheless, these updates are worth keeping an eye on, as teams sometimes make changes or add players to the report later in the day.

Dallas Turner added to Vikings injury report late

That’s exactly what happened tonight when the Minnesota Vikings added rookie first-round pick Dallas Turner to the injury report as “limited” due to a knee injury, marking the fourth such designation for the day. It seems he was mistakenly left off the original report.

Turner’s injury designation comes after one of the best performances of his rookie season. In Sunday’s game against the Bears, the former Alabama standout played 34 defensive snaps, earning a solid 71.2 PFF grade, registering two pressures, and recording his second sack of the year.

It wasn’t just the stats that stood out—Turner’s presence on the field was hard to miss. He consistently made impactful plays and showcased his energy and instincts. Hopefully, this unexpected late addition to the Vikings’ injury report is nothing serious and doesn’t affect his availability moving forward.
