Recent updates bring some good news for the football program, even if the transfer portal has taken center stage in Tuscaloosa headlines. Justice Haynes, an Alabama running back and former 2023 five-star prospect, stated last week that he was going through the transfer portal following two seasons at Alabama. The good news? Jam Miller, a fellow halfback, stated to the media that he has no plans to leave the Crimson Tide and is eager to compete for significant playing time in 2025 as a lead back.
“Yeah, I’m staying,” said Miller. “I’ll be here for another year. I intend to remain. Miller’s anticipated comeback will not only strengthen the ‘Bama running back group going ahead but also help him raise his stock rather than test the waters of the NFL Draft. Miller was Alabama’s second-leading runner with 641 yards from scrimmage, behind dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe, who led the team in rushing yards this autumn. Miller hit the end zone seven times, averaged a respectable 4.7 yards per carry, and occasionally even showed off his receiving prowess throughout the season. Miller was ranked as the fourth running back in the country and a four-star recruit when he was a high school prospect. Additionally, he was listed as Texas’ 14th-best player.
On New Year’s Eve, Alabama’s workhorse, the 5’10”, 218-pound ball carrier, is expected to get plenty of action against Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
