South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer will have to adjust his game plan for the Chee-It Citrus Bowl against No. 20 Illinois, with the absence of star players Kyle Kennard and Raheim Sanders, both of whom have declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Sanders, who led the team in rushing yards and touchdowns, and Kennard, who topped the Gamecocks in sacks and forced fumbles, were key figures in South Carolina’s success this season. Their absence will undoubtedly leave significant gaps, but it also presents an opportunity for younger players to step up and showcase their talents in the bowl game.
Despite missing these two important contributors, South Carolina still has several future NFL prospects, such as linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr., who are choosing to play in the game. With playmakers like quarterback LaNorris Sellers, EDGE rusher Dylan Stewart, and wide receiver Nyck Harbor still available, the Gamecocks will look to secure their 10th win of the season and make a statement in the Citrus Bowl. This would be a significant accomplishment for the program, as it would mark just the fifth time in history that South Carolina has reached the 10-win mark in a season.
