GOOD NEWS: Kansas State Lands Another Elite Star Bolstering Squad Depth

New Mexico Lobos wide receiver Caleb Medford announced his transfer to Kansas State on Thursday, becoming the Wildcats’ fifth transfer commitment of the week. Medford, a 6-foot-1, 198-pound receiver, began his collegiate career at TCU before finding success at New Mexico, where he recorded 48 receptions for 887 yards and five touchdowns over the past two seasons.

Medford showcased his playmaking ability during the 2023 season with standout performances, including a 91-yard outing against New Mexico State and touchdown catches against Arizona, Auburn, and Washington State. Originally from Henderson, Texas, he spent his first two college seasons at TCU, appearing in five games but not recording a catch. Despite limited action, Medford gained experience in the Big 12, which will help him as he transitions to Kansas State.

Kansas State Adds Another WR From Transfer Portal

The Wildcats expect Medford to compete for playing time immediately as they look to replace wide receivers Keagan Johnson, Tre Spivey, Dante Cephas, and Ty Bowman. Medford is part of a strong transfer class for Kansas State, which now includes 12 incoming players. Other notable additions are Jerand Bradley (Boston College), Gabe Ervin (Nebraska), Amarion Fortenberry (South Alabama), Gunner Maldonado (Arizona), Mar’Quavious Moss (West Georgia), Gabe Powers (Ohio State), Jayshawn Ross (Alabama), Jayden Rowe (Oklahoma), Brandon Sneh (Wagner), Amos Talalele (USC), and Jaron Tibbs (Purdue).

Medford’s ability to make big plays and his experience in both the Big 12 and at New Mexico should make him a valuable asset for head coach Chris Klieman as the Wildcats prepare for the upcoming season.
