HUGE BLOW: K-State Highly Experienced Star Suffers Terrible Injury Causing Serious Setback

Kansas State Wildcats senior forward suffered an injury in the second quarter of their game against Arizona State, marking a significant setback for head coach Jeff Mittie and the team.

Lee, who had been managing health issues at the start of the season and averaging a career-low 19.5 minutes per game to reduce strain, exited with two minutes remaining in the first half. At the time, she had recorded seven points and one rebound.

Following the Wildcats’ 81-69 victory over Arizona State, Mittie addressed Lee’s condition, stating, “It’s not good, guys. I don’t have a definitive update, but it’s not going to be a week or two.”

Lee has been a standout player throughout her five-year career at Kansas State, averaging 18.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and shooting 60.46% from the field over 131 games. This season, she has played a pivotal role in leading the Wildcats to a No. 11 national ranking and an 18-1 record before the Arizona State matchup. Lee leads the team in points, rebounds, blocks, and field goal percentage in the 2024-25 season.

In Lee’s absence, junior forward Eliza Maupin stepped up, taking on Arizona State’s Navaeh Parkinson in the paint. Maupin, from Webster Groves, Missouri, has averaged 4.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 12.2 minutes per game this season. Against Arizona State, she contributed six points, five rebounds, and three assists in 22 minutes.

The win improved Kansas State’s record to 19-1 overall and 7-0 in Big 12 play, maintaining their strong start to the season despite Lee’s uncertain status.
