With Wilson possibly unhappy and on the trade market, the Giants could seize the opportunity to acquire him from their cross-town rival in a major trade.
There has been growing speculation this offseason that Garrett Wilson may request a trade from the New York Jets before free agency begins. Some reports suggest that Wilson is unwilling to play alongside Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers again, and if the team commits to Rodgers as its starter, it could push Wilson toward seeking a move elsewhere.
While these rumors remain unconfirmed, if there is truth behind them, Wilson could end up on the trade market and immediately become a prime target for the Giants.
Wilson perfectly fits the description of a “significant weapon.” The 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year, still just 24 years old, is emerging as one of the league’s premier wide receivers.

Could the Giants afford to trade for Wilson?
Acquiring Garrett Wilson in a trade would be no easy feat. As a talented 24-year-old former first-round pick with an impressive résumé, the Jets would demand a substantial return for their investment. His trade value could surpass the second-round pick the Giants gave up for Brian Burns last offseason, making negotiations challenging.
Additionally, Wilson is heading into the final year of his rookie contract and is expected to command a lucrative extension. Spotrac projects his market value at an average annual salary of $23.2 million—a figure that will likely rise if he delivers another standout season in 2025.
Wilson is among the league’s top young wide receivers, and pairing him with Malik Nabers would be a game-changing move for the Giants. If they can afford to make the deal happen, it would be an exciting blockbuster trade for general manager Joe Schoen. However, given the team’s rebuilding status, the high asking price could ultimately be too steep.
