CONGRATULATIONS: Knicks Standout Forward Will Replace Bucks Superstar On All-Star Team

New York Knicks forward Josh Hart could have another opportunity to earn a spot as a 2025 NBA All-Star.

Knicks: Josh Hart may be in running to be All-Star backup

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Sunday morning that Milwaukee Bucks star and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss the All-Star Game due to a mild calf strain.

“Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will be sidelined through the next week due to a mild calf strain and will miss the NBA All-Star Game next Sunday, sources tell ESPN. Antetokounmpo, out since Feb. 2, is expected to return to action shortly after the All-Star break,” Charania wrote on X.

Knicks could get third All-Star with Hart’s inclusion

Josh Hart has put together an All-Star-caliber season, averaging 14.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game while shooting an efficient 55.4% from the field for the Knicks. The Villanova product has earned a reputation as the league’s best undersized rebounder, and his playmaking has been instrumental in New York’s success.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined for the All-Star Game, potential replacements include LaMelo Ball (Charlotte Hornets), Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks), and Tyrese Maxey (Philadelphia 76ers). While Ball and Maxey are high-scoring threats, and Young leads the league in assists, Hart’s all-around impact on the No. 3-seeded Knicks—who have a superior record to all three of those teams—makes a strong case for his inclusion in the All-Star mix.
