GOOD NEWS: The Giants Confirms Another Blockbuster Deal Landing 9-Time Pro Bowl QB To $20 Million Contract

The New York Giants can’t afford to take just one gamble at quarterback this offseason, meaning they’ll likely make multiple moves. Holding the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, they are expected to target Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders if either slips past the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 and the Cleveland Browns at No. 2.

However, with free agency opening in mid-March, the Giants can’t solely rely on the draft. There’s no guarantee Ward or Sanders will be available—or ready to start immediately—so New York is expected to sign a veteran quarterback who can help them win right away.

One potential target is Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson. While Wilson had a solid 2024 season, Pittsburgh’s five-game losing streak, including a first-round playoff exit, wasn’t solely his fault. The Giants boast a top-tier receiver in Malik Nabers, arguably better than any weapon Wilson had in Pittsburgh, making New York a viable destination.

NFL analyst predicts where Russell Wilson will land in free agency

CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin predicted on Feb. 20 that the Giants will sign Wilson to a one-year, $20 million deal. “His days of dominating the highlight reel as the dual-threat star of the Seattle Seahawks are long gone, but Wilson at least flashed some of his trademark deep-ball touch midway through 2024,” Benjamin wrote. While Wilson may no longer be an elite playmaker, he remains a capable play-action passer who could compete for the starting job in New York.
