BREAKING NEWS: Potential NFL Blockbuster Trade Could Impact Two Super Bowl-Winning QBs

The NFL’s wheeling and dealing season is in full swing, with free agency opening on March 12 and the NFL Draft kicking off on April 24. One of the biggest storylines involves Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. While many expect him to remain with the Rams—who are looking for ways to pay him more than his current $4 million contract—the team has given him permission to explore his market value by talking to other teams. Despite indications that he’s not truly available for trade, teams such as the Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Giants have reportedly shown interest.

The Rams were just one play away from a Super Bowl berth, but if they decide Stafford’s $37 million price tag is too steep, a major shake-up could be in the works. According to the New York Post, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is interested in joining the Rams next season. If that happens, his former All-Pro teammate, wide receiver Davante Adams, could also make his way to Los Angeles once he hits free agency. However, these moves would likely depend on the Rams trading Stafford, potentially involving the Giants’ No. 3 overall pick in the process.

During Tuesday’s NFL Combine interviews, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen emphasized the team’s commitment to finding a quarterback—regardless of age—who can help them win. “We’re gonna look for the best player available that can help us win games in ’25,” Schoen stated. This has led to speculation that the Giants could pursue a trade for Matthew Stafford.

If the Giants acquire Stafford, it could significantly alter their draft strategy. While most mock drafts project them selecting a quarterback, landing a Super Bowl-winning veteran might lead them to trade their pick or select a top playmaker like Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter, as suggested by ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. However, they are unlikely to send the No. 3 overall pick to the Rams, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter insisting there is “no way in hell” that happens. Still, they could deal the pick to another quarterback-needy team.

With all these moving pieces, the Rams’ next move is one the rest of the league is watching closely.
