SQUAD SHAKE-UP: The Braves Now Cut Two Top Stars

The Atlanta Braves made their first round of Spring Training cuts on Tuesday afternoon, quickly beginning the process of narrowing down the roster.

The #Braves today optioned LHP Dylan Dodd and RHP Hurston Waldrep to Triple-A Gwinnett, and reassigned RHP Enoli Paredes and RHP Royber Salinas to minor league camp. Atlanta now has 56 players in camp.

This apparently "untouchable" Braves prospect simply should not be this offseason

The most notable names in this round of cuts are Hurston Waldrep and Dylan Dodd. Both pitched in the majors last season and entered camp with at least an outside chance of competing for a spot at the back end of the rotation. However, the Braves opted to send them down before the start of March, signaling that they weren’t in serious contention.

Dodd and Waldrep are expected to begin the season in Gwinnett’s rotation, and depending on their performance, they could work their way back to Atlanta at some point in 2025.

With these moves, the Braves’ Spring Training roster is now down to 56 players.
