Major League Baseball has announced the rosters for the upcoming “Spring Breakout” games, which will feature top minor league prospects facing off against each other. The Cubs’ team will include standout prospects such as right-hander Cade Horton, catcher Moises Ballesteros, and infielder James Triantos.

Spring Breakout is a four-day event running from March 13 to March 16 at Spring Training venues in Florida and Arizona, designed to highlight MLB’s rising stars. Each team consists entirely of minor leaguers, creating an exciting opportunity to see a mix of players from various levels of the farm system. For some recent draft picks, this will be their first appearance in a Cubs uniform.

This marks the second year of Spring Breakout, but last year’s Cubs matchup against the White Sox was canceled due to rain. To make up for it, the Cubs will play two games this year—March 13 against the Dodgers at Camelback Ranch and March 15 against the Angels at Sloan Park. Both games will begin at 8:05 p.m. Central time.

With the Cubs’ major league squad in Japan, the minor leaguers will take center stage. Fans can watch both games for free on MLB.tv, MLB.com, and the MLB app. The March 15 game against the Angels will also air on MLB Network and Marquee+.

Below is the Cubs’ preliminary roster for the Spring Breakout games, though changes—especially among pitchers—are expected for the second game.
