The Giants have re-signed kick returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette, according to The Athletic on Wednesday.

A Newark native and Weequahic High School graduate, Smith-Marsette made a strong impression in his debut season with the Giants. His standout moment was a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown during their unexpected 45-33 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17. In 2024, he accumulated 228 punt return yards and 381 kick return yards over 15 games.

The 25-year-old has four years of NFL experience, having played for the Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs—where he won a Super Bowl in 2022—and the Carolina Panthers.

Smith-Marsette played college football at the University of Iowa, where he was named the Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year in 2018. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Determined to secure a regular role in the offense next season, he has seen limited action on that side of the ball. Across 42 NFL games, Smith-Marsette has recorded 14 receptions for 182 yards and two touchdowns, along with nine carries for 73 yards and one rushing touchdown.
