BREAKING NEWS: Eagles Get Stunning News On Future Of $179 million NFL All-Pro

The Philadelphia Eagles recently watched one future Hall of Fame offensive lineman, center Jason Kelce, retire after the 2023 season. Now, the timeline for when their next likely Hall of Famer might step away from the game has been extended.

On March 17, the Eagles signed star offensive tackle Lane Johnson to a one-year, $25 million contract extension. Speaking to reporters on March 19, the five-time All-Pro, six-time Pro Bowler, and two-time Super Bowl champion said it’s “very possible” he’ll play through the entirety of his current deal, keeping him in Philadelphia until the end of the 2027 season.

Johnson had previously discussed his future plans and potential retirement before the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9.

“I’m definitely not retiring after this game, win or lose,” Johnson told NFL.com’s Bobby Kownack on February 1. “I’m definitely playing next year. At this point in my career, you take it one year at a time. But physically, I feel a lot better than I have the past couple of years. I’m feeling great, especially this late in the season, which isn’t always the case. I’m grateful. We have a great team here to support us.”

By the time his contract runs out after the 2027 season, Johnson’s career earnings will be close to $179.9 million.

According to ESPN, Johnson restructured his deal to include an extra $8 million over the next two years and $30 million more in guarantees, per his agent Ken Sarnoff. The extension added another year at $25 million, locking him in through 2027. In total, he’s set to make $48 million over the next two seasons, with $40 million of that guaranteed.

Path From JuCo to Big 12 to NFL Stardom

Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 325 pounds, Lane Johnson was selected by the Eagles with the fourth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. He began his college career at Kilgore College in Texas before transferring to Oklahoma. There, he initially played quarterback, tight end, and defensive end before switching to offensive tackle in 2011, eventually earning All-Big 12 honors in 2012.

As he heads into his 13th NFL season in 2025, Johnson has been named an All-Pro in each of the past four years. During his time with Philadelphia, the Eagles have reached the playoffs in seven of the last eight seasons, including three trips to the Super Bowl and two championship victories.

Eagles Have NFL’s Highest Paid Offensive Lines

In 2024, Lane Johnson anchored an offensive line that helped pave the way for Saquon Barkley to rush for over 2,000 yards, making him just the ninth player in NFL history to hit that mark. Barkley’s dominant season earned him NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Currently, three of the Eagles’ five starting offensive linemen are on lucrative contracts, each averaging close to $20 million annually. Left tackle Jordan Mailata is on a three-year, $66 million deal; left guard Landon Dickerson signed a four-year, $84 million extension; and Johnson’s contract, prior to his latest extension, was worth four years and $80.7 million.

Starting center Cam Jurgens, who earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2024, is entering the final year of his rookie contract—a four-year, $5.75 million deal signed in 2022. His breakout performance puts him in line for a possible contract extension or franchise tag after the 2025 season.

Philadelphia has a history of investing heavily in top-tier centers. Jason Kelce, for example, averaged $11.5 million per season over his final four years with the team.
