
New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has signed defenseman to a three-year, entry-level contract. Dorrington will join the Hartford Wolf Pack on an amateur tryout (ATO) for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old blueliner tallied two goals and 13 assists for 15 points over 37 games this past season with Northeastern University in Hockey East, tying for fifth on the team in assists.
Across three collegiate seasons at Northeastern, the North Reading, Massachusetts native compiled eight goals and 25 assists for 33 points in 105 games, along with a plus-17 rating. In 2023-24, he appeared in 33 games, recording six goals—the most by any Northeastern defenseman—and was honored as the team’s Unsung Hero. As a freshman, Dorrington skated in all 35 games and finished tied for fifth on the team with 31 blocked shots.
Prior to his collegiate career, Dorrington played for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL, where he posted 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) in 41 games and was named a 2022 BioSteel All-American.

Originally selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, Dorrington’s rights were acquired by the Rangers on January 31, 2025.
