GOOD NEWS: The Avalanche Land Two Highly Experience Star In Blockbuster Deal

With the 2025 NCAA 16-team tournament field set, many players not participating are now free to sign contracts and begin their professional careers. This presents a key opportunity for the Colorado Avalanche to scout talent, adding organizational depth to the Colorado Eagles for the fall and filling out their rookie tournament roster.

Among the recent signings, the Avalanche have brought in goaltender Isak Posch and left-shot winger Cooper Gay. Both 23-year-olds signed standard two-year entry-level contracts beginning in the 2025-26 season.

Both players come from Minnesota-based collegiate programs—Posch from St. Cloud State and Gay from St. Thomas. Gay is already a familiar face within the organization, having attended Colorado’s development camp in 2024, though he was unable to participate on the ice due to injury.
