The Auburn Tigers are continuing their efforts to strengthen their roster for the 2024–25 season, with the goal of returning to the NCAA Tournament Final Four and competing for a national championship.
After a disappointing end to their season in San Antonio with a loss to Florida, Auburn has kept a high profile in the basketball world.
The Tigers have been among the most active teams in the NCAA transfer portal and have made significant moves. It’s been reported that head coach Bruce Pearl plans to start five new players for the 2025–26 season, and he’s recently added another key player to the mix.
On Easter morning, Auburn Men’s Basketball made a big announcement with the commitment of four-star recruit Elyjah Freeman, described as “a skilled hooper with bounce to match.
Freeman, who entered the transfer portal on March 17, officially committed to Auburn this past Saturday. The 6-foot-8 guard/forward, who played last season at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, was named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week and earned NABC Division II Player of the Week honors in January.
For the season, Freeman averaged 18.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, shooting an impressive 58.7% from the field.
Bruce Pearl praised Freeman as “a classic late bloomer,” noting that he was under-recruited out of high school and later thrived at Lincoln Memorial, becoming one of the top offensive players in Division II basketball as a freshman. Pearl also highlighted Freeman’s hard work, dedication, and drive.
