GOOD NEWS: The Tiger Announce Return Of Another Highly Rated Talented Star

After two impressive seasons with Auburn’s football team, place kicker Alex McPherson was sidelined for most of the 2024 season due to severe gastrointestinal issues that led to significant weight loss. Following surgery in the offseason, McPherson has been working hard to regain his weight and fitness in order to return to the field. A recent post on his personal Instagram confirms that he will be able to play this season.

McPherson’s absence last season saw true freshman Towns McGough handling kicking duties for the first part of the year, followed by Ian Vachon taking over towards the end. McPherson expressed his excitement about coming back, saying, “I’m super excited. I’m super pumped to finally get back on the practice field and do what I love. Being around the guys has been great, and getting back to spring practice has been awesome. All the hard work and time we’ve spent figuring things out is finally paying off, and it’s amazing to see the results.”

Auburn Tigers kicker Alex McPherson (38) warms up during Auburn Tigers A-Day football practice at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
