Duke University men’s basketball head coach Jon Scheyer has announced the hiring of Evan Bradds as an assistant coach, succeeding Jai Lucas, who recently accepted the head coaching position at the University of Miami.

Bradds, 31, brings a wealth of experience to the Blue Devils, having most recently served as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz. During his tenure with the Jazz, he was instrumental in player development and led the team’s Summer League squad in 2023. Prior to his time in Utah, Bradds spent four years with the Boston Celtics organization, working as an assistant coach and video coordinator for the Maine Red Claws, Boston’s NBA G League affiliate, before advancing to the Celtics’ player enhancement staff under head coaches Brad Stevens and Ime Udoka.

A native of Jamestown, Ohio, Bradds had a standout collegiate career at Belmont University, where he was a two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and remains the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,921 points. He also ranks sixth in NCAA Division I history in career field goal percentage at .667.

Bradds also shared his excitement about the opportunity:
