The 22-year-old is currently on loan at the Emirates Stadium for the fourth time. He previously played for Norwich City, Nantes, and Fluminense before joining Cruzeiro in January.

Marquinhos has scored one goal and provided one assist in 17 appearances for his current club. The Brazilian was set to return to Arsenal in December, following the end of the Brazilian football season.

However, Fabrizio Romano now reports that Marquinhos will not return to North London, but will join Cruzeiro permanently until the summer of 2028.

The 22-year-old will leave the Emirates three years after his £3 million deal from São Paulo. Following his impressive performances at youth level, he was quickly integrated into the first team.

However, Marquinhos only made six appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side, scoring one goal and providing one assist in a 2-1 Europa League win over FC Zurich in September 2022.

In Germany, Borussia Dortmund reportedly held further talks about a move for Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham during the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old quickly became one of the most sought-after young players in English football after helping the Black Cats to promotion to the Premier League in the 2025/26 season.

Bellingham scored four goals and provided three assists in 43 appearances for Sunderland last season as Regis Le Bris’s side beat Sheffield United 2-1 in the playoff final at Wembley.

Clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are said to have shown interest in Bellingham, but according to the Daily Mail, Dortmund is increasing its efforts.

BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl is said to have held further talks with the 19-year-old, although Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig have also spoken to him.

However, Bellingham appears destined to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Jude Bellingham, who scored 24 goals and 25 assists in 132 games during his three years at Dortmund.

David de Gea signs new contract with Fiorentina until 2028

Arsenal striker leaves, De Gea stays: Latest transfer news and rumors

At the other end of the experience scale, veteran goalkeeper David de Gea has signed a new contract with Italian giants Fiorentina until the end of the 2027/28 season.

The former Manchester United player has found refuge in Florence and shone in the 2024/25 season. He kept eleven clean sheets in 35 matches and helped Fiorentina reach the Conference League semifinals.

When he arrived at Fiorentina last August, De Gea only signed a one-year contract with an option for a further twelve months. This meant he could have been without a club at the end of this season.

However, Fiorentina has now confirmed that the Spaniard has extended his contract for a three-year term. La Viola could also extend his contract until 2029, shortly before his 39th birthday.

“ACF Fiorentina is delighted to announce the contract extension of David De Gea until June 30, 2028,” a statement read. “The Spanish goalkeeper joined the club last summer after previously playing for Atlético Madrid and Manchester United. In his first season, he made 42 appearances and kept eleven clean sheets.”

De Gea was without a club for over a year before joining Fiorentina. He previously kept 190 clean sheets in 545 games for Man United, a club record.

AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez is in direct contact with top Saudi club

From a player staying in Italy to one potentially leaving Serie A: AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez is reportedly in direct talks to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal this summer.

The future of the French international has been the subject of considerable speculation for months, as he is approaching the final year of his contract at San Siro, and talks over an extension have so far failed to produce a positive outcome.

Manchester City and Real Madrid were previously considered Hernandez’s main competitors if he were to leave Milan. If he does not extend his contract, Hernandez could be pressured into a sale.

A separate update from Romano, however, claims that Al-Hilal is now negotiating a deal with the 27-year-old, who is considered a top target for the Middle Eastern giants.
