APPROVED IN: Pacers Officially Sign Top-Notch Fans Favorite in Blockbuster Deal

The Indiana Pacers have signed shooting guard Dakota Mathias to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract, according to the RealGM transactions log.

Mathias, 29, stands 6-foot-4 and went undrafted out of Purdue in 2018. He has played in eight games with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2020-21 season and six games with the Memphis Grizzlies the following year. His professional experience also includes stints in Spain, Germany, and the G League. In the NBA Summer League with the Pacers this July, Mathias averaged 6.6 points and 1.2 rebounds.

As with most Exhibit 10 signings, Mathias could vie for a two-way deal, but he’s likely to end up with the Indiana Mad Ants.

Pacers Officially Sign Well-Traveled Guard To Camp Deal

An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal that does not count against the team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It can be converted to a two-way deal before the season starts or provide guaranteed money if the player is waived and remains with the G League team for at least 60 days.

This move comes as the Pacers have officially waived guard Kyle Magnus and forward Cameron McGriff, who are both expected to join the Mad Ants.

Magnus, 25, is 6-foot-4 and a product of Warsaw High School and Indiana Wesleyan University. Undrafted in 2021, he played for the Mad Ants last season after a stint overseas and recently spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers’ summer team.

McGriff, 26, is 6-foot-7 and went undrafted out of Oklahoma State in 2020. He has had a mix of overseas and G League experience, including three games with the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2021-22 season, where he averaged 4.7 points and 5.0 rebounds.
