Veteran pitcher Rich Hill has rejoined the Boston Red Sox, as confirmed by the team. Hill was promoted from Triple-A Worcester, making him a candidate to become the first player to appear in at least one major league game in each of the last 20 seasons.
Manager Alex Cora endorsed the move, noting, “He looks fantastic physically. He’s always attentive to his conditioning. He’s thrilled to be back and has been meticulous about his craft over the past few months. We have no doubts about his physical readiness and ability to pitch well.”
Throughout his career, Hill has appeared in 382 games, with a record of 90-73 and a 4.01 ERA. He has played for thirteen teams, including three stints with the Red Sox. Hill was with the Red Sox from 2010 to 2012, returned in 2015, and came back again in 2022, although he played in the minors during that season.
