Alejandro Garnacho’s preseason “decision” at Manchester United is a mysterious message.

When Alejandro Garnacho returns to Carrington this summer, Manchester United is allegedly open to letting him train with his first-team teammates. Earlier this summer, MEN Sport reported that Ruben Amorim told the Argentine that he may search for a new team during the next transfer window. Following Garnacho’s outspoken criticism of his lack of playing time in the Europa League final, this decision was taken.
Although Garnacho has been strongly linked to both Napoli and Chelsea this summer, no formal transfer approach has been made as of yet. Many members of the United first team made their way back to Carrington on Monday to begin the preseason.
However, the Manchester Evening News found that Garnacho was one of five players who told the club he wanted to look for a move elsewhere a few days prior to their arrival. In order to enable transfers to other teams, United chose to grant the 21-year-old and his four colleagues a prolonged sabbatical.
It is anticipated that their vacations will conclude in July, most likely prior to the U.S. preseason trip. According to ESPN, Garnacho won’t be prohibited from working with his teammates whenever he returns to Carrington. Notably, after his dispute with Erik ten Hag in 2023, Jadon Sancho was expelled from the first team. This does not appear to be the case for Garnacho, though.
Garnacho posted a mysterious statement on social media on Thursday morning, which prompted this report. The winger shared a snapshot of himself dozing off aboard a private jet with the message, “Coming.” Whether he was referring to his arrival at a new club or his return to Manchester for the start of preseason is unclear. In any case, there are no indications that the story of Garnacho’s future will come to a conclusion.
