Official: Ahead of the new season, Man United confirms the exciting young duo’s new shirt numbers.

Starlets Tyler Fredricson and Chido Obi have been assigned new shirt numbers by Manchester United in preparation for the 2025–2026 campaign.

Obi has seen a sharp ascent at United after joining from Arsenal in November of last year. His influence at the junior level was so great that he was quickly promoted to the first team. He made his senior debut shortly after, entering as a late substitute in a 1-0 Premier League loss to Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Before the 2024–2025 season ended, Obi made eight appearances for United with the first team.

He scored two goals in the second half of the Red Devils’ 3-1 comeback victory over Hong Kong, his first goals for the team during the postseason tour. Additionally, the 17-year-old enjoyed a successful summer competition with Denmark’s U20 team at the Maurice Revello competition. The club has revealed that Obi, who previously wore the number 56 shirt, has been given the number 32 shirt. Ruben Amorim has frequently praised Obi and his potential. It’s a clear indication that he might eventually be given more responsibility.

Fredricson is the most recent player to receive a new squad number, joining Obi. Similar to Obi, Fredricson earned his United debut during a close loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers the previous season. Even though he lost, he gave a strong performance that was characterized by poise and calmness, particularly while playing out from the back. Shortly after, he began the away game against Brentford.

Fredricson will now wear the number 33 on the back of his shirt, after previously wearing the number 55. Given that Obi and Fredricson are now regarded as completely established first-team players, it is almost a given that they will be included in the group for the preseason tour of the United States later this month.
