The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team has added its third commitment for the 2025 recruiting class.
Justus Fitzgerald, a six-foot power forward, announced her commitment to Syracuse on Tuesday via X. Fitzgerald chose the Orange over other top contenders, including Howard, Georgia State, Furman, and Georgetown.
Interestingly, Syracuse was not initially on Fitzgerald’s radar, as she did not mention them in a post on X from August 2. However, after receiving an offer from Syracuse on August 8, Fitzgerald decided to join the Orange less than a month later.
Fitzgerald, who is a student at Norcross High School in Georgia, plays for both their varsity basketball team and the club Team Elite 3SSB.
Standing at six feet tall, Fitzgerald’s Hudl profile indicates she has experience playing as a shooting guard and small forward, in addition to her primary role as a power forward. While her stats are limited, her versatility is a key strength, allowing her to adapt to various positions. This spring, she was named to the 7A Girls All-State Team and was recognized as Co-Players of the Year in her region for the past year.
So far, Fitzgerald becomes the third player to commit to Coach Felisha Legette-Jack for the 2025 recruiting class, following four-star wing Jasmyn Cooper and guard Camdyn Nelson.
With Fitzgerald joining the team, Syracuse now has seven players committed from the 2024 and 2025 classes. This group includes 2024 four-star wings Keira Scott and Ka’Shya Hawkins, along with Olivia Schmitt and Madeline Potts.
Fitzgerald’s addition is expected to bolster the forward depth for Syracuse, which will be valuable in light of Alyssa Latham’s transfer to Tennessee this offseason.
Welcome to the Orange, Justus!
