INJURY REPORT: Auburn Confirms Good And Bad News Causing Serious Dilemma And Setback

It was a challenging day for Auburn football. Following last year’s hard-fought win over the Cal Golden Bears, expectations were high for the Tigers to come out strong this season. Unfortunately, those expectations fell flat.

The Auburn offense struggled throughout the game, with the only notable positive being the defense’s second-half adjustments. While the 21-14 loss raises concerns about the season and potential recruit decommitments, there’s no need to panic just yet. Four-star defensive tackle Malik Autry remains optimistic about Auburn’s future.

“I wouldn’t say that,” Autry stated when asked if his commitment was affected, according to Auburn Rivals. “It was a tough loss, but we have a great coaching staff who can turn things around and get us moving in the right direction.”

With the Cal game behind them, the Tigers will focus on their upcoming matchup against New Mexico this weekend.

Hugh Freeze gives injury updates on several players

Last week, Auburn football faced setbacks with injuries to two starters in their game against Cal. Offensive lineman Izavion ‘Too Tall’ Miller and wide receiver Cam Coleman both sustained injuries, with Miller dealing with a hip issue and Coleman suffering a shoulder injury.

Head coach Hugh Freeze mentioned that while Miller has had MRIs and will not miss the entire season, it’s likely he won’t play in the upcoming game after trying to play through his injury in the second half. In contrast, Coleman’s injury occurred in the final minutes of the game, and he is more likely to return against New Mexico.

“(Miller) tried to come back in — I think that was one of the hits Payton (Thorne) took right when he was throwing,” Freeze said Monday, according to Auburn Undercover. “He just couldn’t move; he’s got a hip issue. We’ve had MRIs on both of them, and thankfully, it’s nothing season-ending. It will probably be difficult for Too Tall (Miller) to play. I’m not sure about Cam; it depends on how quickly he regains range of motion in that shoulder.”
