BREAKING: San Francisco All-Pro Experience Star Suffer Terrible Injury Causing Serious Setback

San Francisco 49ers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey will miss the season opener against the New York Jets due to a lingering calf and Achilles injury that has bothered him throughout the summer.

McCaffrey was injured early in training camp, causing him to miss four weeks of practice before returning last week. Though he was listed as questionable and expected to play on Monday night, he was unexpectedly ruled out before the game.

In his absence, Jordan Mason is expected to carry the bulk of the workload at running back.

McCaffrey led the NFL last season with 2,023 scrimmage yards and tied for the league lead with 21 touchdowns, earning him the AP Offensive Player of the Year award.

Additionally, the 49ers activated All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams to the 53-man roster following a lengthy contract holdout, releasing Brandon Parker to make room.

San Francisco also promoted defensive end Sam Okuayinonu and safety Tracy Walker from the practice squad ahead of the game against the Jets.

San Francisco’s other inactive players for the game include defensive end Yetur Gross Matos (knee), safety Talanoa Hufanga (knee), linebacker Dee Winters (ankle), offensive lineman Ben Bartch, and cornerback Darrell Luter. Joshua Dobbs is designated as the emergency third quarterback.

The Jets also made several roster changes on Monday. They signed offensive lineman Jake Hanson and linebacker Sam Eguavoen to the active roster while placing linebacker Zaire Barnes on injured reserve. Tight end Anthony Firkser and defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes were promoted from the practice squad for the game, and running back Kene Nwangwu was added to the practice squad.

The Jets’ inactive players are offensive lineman Max Mitchell, running back Israel Abanikanda, tackle Carter Warren, tight end Brenden Bates, defensive linemen Eric Watts and Leonard Taylor, and cornerback Jarrick Bernard-Converse.
