GOOD NEWS: Rangers Finally Land 29-Year-Old Top-Notch Fans Favorite

According to Rick Dhaliwal, the New York Rangers are expected to sign defenseman Madison Bowey to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) ahead of the 2024-25 season. During the 2023-24 season, Bowey played in Russia for Dinamo Minsk, Traktor Chelyabinsk, and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL, where he accumulated 14 points (4 goals and 10 assists) over 51 games.

The 29-year-old last appeared in the NHL during the 2021-22 season with the Vancouver Canucks, playing in two games. Over the following two seasons, Bowey played in the AHL, representing the Abbotsford Canucks and the Laval Rocket, the Montreal Canadiens’ AHL affiliate.

Bowey was drafted 53rd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2013 NHL Draft. He spent his junior career with the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL, recording 172 points in 259 games. He captained the Rockets for two seasons, leading them to a WHL championship in 2014-15 alongside Leon Draisaitl and Josh Morrissey.

Bowey made his NHL debut in the 2017-18 season after spending two years in the AHL with the Hershey Bears, notching 12 assists in 51 games. He scored his first NHL goal on December 29, 2018, against the Ottawa Senators. After two seasons with Washington, Bowey was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, where he played one season before joining the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2020-21 season.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has accumulated five goals, 35 assists, and 104 penalty minutes in 158 NHL games, playing for the Capitals, Red Wings, Blackhawks, and Canucks.
