BREAKING: Steelers Flips Another Top Star And Land $38 Million QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers have several quarterback options, including the possibility of moving on from Russell Wilson in favor of a younger player to compete with or back up current starter Justin Fields. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Las Vegas Raiders are among the teams that could be interested in Wilson, especially given his low $1.2 million salary and the potential for him to waive his no-trade clause. The Raiders were previously on Wilson’s list of preferred destinations.

If the Steelers trade Wilson, who hasn’t yet played a regular-season snap this year, it would signal their confidence in Fields as the starter for at least the rest of the season. However, Fields has his own challenges and is in the final year of his rookie contract, set to become a free agent in March 2025 unless Pittsburgh extends him beforehand.

Panthers QB Bryce Young's rough rookie season got worse against the Saints

This situation raises the possibility of the Steelers pursuing another quarterback before the NFL’s November 5 trade deadline. One option is Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. While it was initially reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Panthers are more likely to trade Young in the offseason, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report recently suggested that a strong offer could potentially shift those plans. Knox noted that acquiring a long-term solution at quarterback ahead of the 2025 market might appeal to teams like the Steelers.

Though Fields remains young enough to be a long-term option for Pittsburgh, the team could consider Bryce Young if Fields’ performance falters. Young is currently in the second year of his four-year, $38 million rookie contract, with a team option for 2027.
