The New York Giants are once again searching for a franchise quarterback. As the most crucial position in football, securing a reliable signal-caller to build around this offseason is a top priority. However, with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they may miss out on the top two quarterback prospects.
To prepare for this possibility, the Giants need a contingency plan. If the top two quarterbacks are off the board, they could pivot to a “best player available” approach, selecting an elite prospect at No. 3 and exploring creative ways to acquire a quarterback later in the draft.
New York Giants Two-Round 2025 NFL Mock Draft:
Giants go BPA and land Heisman Trophy-winner with No. 3 overall pick
In this mock draft, Miami quarterback Cam Ward is selected first overall by the Tennessee Titans, followed by Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who goes No. 2 to the Las Vegas Raiders after they trade up with the Cleveland Browns. This scenario leaves the New York Giants in an interesting position at No. 3.
With their pick, the Giants select Colorado superstar Travis Hunter. The dynamic cornerback-wide receiver is widely regarded as the best overall prospect in the draft. Hunter has the potential to be a lockdown defender at the next level while also showcasing elite playmaking ability on offense.
In 2024, Hunter made history by becoming the first player to win both the Chuck Bednarik Award (college football’s Defensive Player of the Year) and the Fred Biletnikoff Award (Wide Receiver of the Year). He also claimed the prestigious Heisman Trophy, recognizing him as the best player in college football.

Hunter’s stats were staggering—1,258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on offense, along with 11 pass breakups and four interceptions on defense. A rare talent and elite athlete, he could make an immediate impact for the Giants on both sides of the ball.
However, this selection still leaves an important question: What will the Giants do at quarterback?
Giants trade up for Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart
Although this is a two-round mock draft, the Giants won’t be making a selection in the second round. Instead, they trade their second-round pick to move back into the first round and secure their quarterback.
Trade Details:
Giants Receive: Vikings’ 1st-Round Pick (No. 24), 5th-Round Pick (No. 161)
Vikings Receive: Giants’ 2nd-Round Pick (No. 34), 5th-Round Pick (No. 155), 2026 2nd-Round Pick
Now picking 24th overall, the Giants select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. The standout SEC signal-caller recently boosted his draft stock at the Senior Bowl and is now viewed as a potential first-round pick. According to Todd McShay of The Ringer, some teams even consider Dart a “legitimate QB2,” ranking him ahead of projected top-five pick Shedeur Sanders.
Dart had a record-breaking 2024 season for Ole Miss, throwing for 4,279 yards with a 29-6 TD-INT ratio. He also surpassed Giants legend Eli Manning’s career passing record at the university after three strong seasons as the team’s starter.
Previously, the 2025 NFL Draft was seen as a two-quarterback class, headlined by Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. However, Dart’s rapid rise has reshaped the conversation, turning it into a three-quarterback race. This is a crucial development for the Giants, who, despite missing out on one of the top two quarterbacks at No. 3, still manage to secure their future by drafting Dart later in the first round.
